Cookies and storage

Short, because there isn't much to say: here is every item the site and the game keep in your browser.

Last updated

The short version

  • skyscrap.fun sets no cookies and has no analytics or advertising trackers.
  • The game stores your callsign, avatar and settings in local storage on your device. It never leaves your device.
  • Online play will add one strictly necessary session cookie, plus a bot check when you create a profile.
  • Nothing that needs your consent is used, so there's no cookie banner.

This summary is for convenience; the full text below is what applies.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to keep and send back with later requests. Local storage is similar, but it stays in your browser and is never sent to a server automatically. Both can be cleared at any time in your browser settings.

This website

skyscrap.fun sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. There are no analytics or advertising tools, no social media buttons and no embedded third-party players. Fonts, images and video are served from our own domain.

If we ever put a security service in front of the site that needs a strictly necessary cookie, for example to tell real visitors from attack traffic, we’ll list it here.

The game

Guest play stores these items in your browser’s local storage. They are needed for the game to remember you, they never leave your device, and they last until you clear them.

NamePurpose
skyscrap.settings.v1Your callsign, avatar, settings and match setup (arena, bots, difficulty, rules).
skyscrap.playedRemembers that this browser has started a match, so first-match help shows only once.
skyscrap.tip.firstDeathRemembers that the first-death tip has been shown.
skyscrap.iosHint.dismissedRemembers that you closed the iPhone “Add to Home Screen” tip.

Builds from before the game was renamed used names starting with pj.; the game moves those values to the names above automatically.

Online play (when it launches)

Online play will add a small number of strictly necessary items:

  • A guest session cookie on the game’s own address. It holds your signed-in guest session so you stay the same player between visits. It is marked HttpOnly and Secure, so scripts can’t read it and it only travels over encrypted connections. It expires after 180 days without play.
  • A bot check, such as Cloudflare Turnstile, when a guest profile is created. It may set its own short-lived security cookies.
  • Partitioned cookies, only when the game runs inside another website or app, so your session works there without being shared with other sites.

Because these are strictly necessary for a service you ask for, they don’t need consent in most places. We’ll update this page with exact names before launch.

Game portals and other platforms

If you play Skyscrap on another company’s site or app, that platform may use its own cookies, including for advertising, under its own cookie and privacy policies. We don’t control those.

Managing and clearing storage

To clear everything Skyscrap has stored in your browser:

  • Chrome, Edge and Samsung Internet: open the site, tap the icon next to the address, choose site settings, then clear data.
  • Safari on iPhone: Settings → Apps → Safari → Advanced → Website Data, then remove the Skyscrap entry.
  • Firefox: click the padlock next to the address, then Clear cookies and site data.

Clearing game storage resets your callsign, avatar and settings to their defaults.

Changes and contact

We update this page whenever what we store changes, and we’d ask for your consent first before adding anything that isn’t strictly necessary. Questions: see the privacy policy or contact us.
