Questions, answered

The things people ask most about Skyscrap. Something missing? Ask us and we'll add it.

Playing

Is Skyscrap free?

Yes. Skyscrap is free to play in your browser. There's nothing to buy today, and if we ever sell anything it will be cosmetic: it will change how you look, never how you play.

Do I need to download anything or make an account?

No. Open the link and you're at the menu: pick a callsign and press Play. Your settings and avatar are saved in your browser on that device.

What can I play it on?

Any recent phone, tablet or computer with an up-to-date browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari or Samsung Internet. It's built to run on budget Android phones as well as laptops and gaming PCs, and it adjusts its graphics automatically.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes, in Safari. Hold your phone in landscape. For full screen, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and open Skyscrap from there.

If you can't hear anything, check that your iPhone isn't on silent.

Can I use a controller?

Yes. Connect a gamepad and press any button. It works in the menus too.

How do the controls work?

On a computer: A and D to move, W or Space for rocket boots, the mouse to aim and left click to fire. On a phone: the left stick moves and flies, the right stick aims and fires. Every key can be rebound in Settings.

Every control

How much mobile data does it use?

The whole game is about 490 KB compressed. Art is drawn in code and sound is synthesized on your device, so there's nothing else to download, and matches against bots use no data at all.

Online matches, once they arrive, should use roughly 35 to 45 MB an hour, and a data-saver mode is planned.

Online and friends

Can I play online with friends?

Not yet. Today every match is you against bots, running in your browser. Online quick play is the next big update, followed by private rooms you can share as a link, parties and Team Deathmatch.

Where online play is heading

When is online play coming?

When it holds up on real phones on real networks. We're starting with network tests in Kenya and Nigeria, then a closed beta. New dates and test sign-ups are posted in the news first.

Where will the servers be?

The first servers will be in Johannesburg, the one site that is quick to reach from both Nairobi (about 52 ms) and Lagos (about 75 ms), with a fallback in Europe. India and other regions come later.

Will there be bots in online matches?

Yes. Bots fill empty seats so matches start straight away, and they hand their seats to people as they join. Bots will always be labelled as bots.

Fair play and safety

Is there any pay-to-win?

No. Every weapon is the same for everyone and can't be upgraded. Nothing that changes a fight will ever be for sale.

How will you deal with cheaters?

In online play the server runs the match and decides health, ammo, fuel and every hit; your device only sends what you pressed, so modded clients can't give themselves anything. Players will be able to report and vote-kick, and we act on reports.

Community guidelines

Is there chat?

Online play will use quick-chat (preset messages) rather than free text, to keep matches friendly. Callsigns must follow our community guidelines.

How old do you need to be?

Skyscrap is a cartoon-style shooter. You need to be at least 13 to use it, and players under 18 need a parent's or guardian's permission.

Online play will ask your age before your first match, and may be for players 18 and over at first. Matches against bots stay open to everyone old enough to play.

Terms of service

Your data

What do you collect about me?

Very little. Guest play keeps your callsign, avatar and settings in your own browser; we never receive them. Like every website, our hosting keeps short-lived request logs. If you email us or sign up for updates, we keep your email address for that purpose.

Privacy policy

How do I delete my data?

Guest play data lives in your browser, so clearing the site data for Skyscrap removes it. For anything we hold, such as emails or sign-ups, write to privacy@skyscrap.fun and we'll delete it.

Everything else

Can I stream Skyscrap or post videos of it?

Yes, and you can monetise them. Just don't suggest your channel is official or sponsored by us unless it is.

Fan content rules

I found a bug. Where do I report it?

Email support@skyscrap.fun with your device, browser, the arena and what happened. A screenshot or short clip helps a lot.

Support

Is Skyscrap connected to any other game?

No. Skyscrap is an original game with its own characters, arenas, art and sound. It isn't affiliated with or endorsed by any other game, studio or publisher.

I write about games. Where's the press kit?

Logos, screenshots, footage and a fact sheet are on the press page. For anything else, email press@skyscrap.fun.
