Update·

Fairer bots, five arenas and your own soldier

Bots that see and hear like you do, a Recruit level for your first matches, four new arenas, an avatar editor and a full settings menu.

Explosions over Kilima Outpost at dusk as a soldier flies between the catwalks

The first playtests said it plainly: the bots were too good, too early. This update is mostly about making a first match feel fun instead of punishing, with a lot of new things to look at along the way.

Bots that play fair

Bots now see only what would fit on a screen, and they hear gunfire, explosions and nearby boots rather than knowing where everyone is. They open with near-miss warning shots, share out who gets to attack you, and never shoot someone who has just respawned. On the lower levels they also hit softer.

There are four levels. Recruit is the new default for first matches; Easy, Normal and Hard step up from there. Against a simulated new player, Recruit now concedes about six kills for every death, Easy about one and a half, Normal roughly one, and Hard about one kill for every two deaths. Next we tune it with real people.

Four new arenas

Kilima Outpost is joined by Frostbite Station, Neon Rooftops, Dune Refinery and Jungle Temple. Each has its own layout, backdrop, weather, lights, footstep sounds, ambience and music.

Your soldier, your way

The new avatar editor covers headgear, eyewear, camo patterns, outfit and accent colours, skin tone, boot flame and name-tag colour. Everything is unlocked, and it’s saved on your device.

Match setup and settings

Pick the arena, the number of bots, their level, kills to win and the time limit. Settings now include key rebinding, touch control size and a left-handed layout, crosshair style, damage numbers, interface size, colour-blind-friendly cues and reduced flashing.
